Volunteer
We Love Volunteers!
For over ten years, the African American Health Coalition served as an all volunteer organization comprised of a diverse group of volunteers, committed to reducing racial health disparities in Portland, Oregon.
The dedication put forth by our volunteers has always been one of the cornerstones of our organization.
Our vision, of being the healthiest African American community in the nation, continues with your passionate support to help us reach our goal.
Your skills, talents, and experience have an important role in the AAHC’s success.
Two of our annual events, the Wellness Village and Wellness Walk, are times for us to celebrate our community’s victories around health improvement.

To be healthy we should avoid different bad habits that can affect our health. In my opinion, smoking and drinking too much alcohol, are the worst ones. It's common knowledge that smoking and drinking can shorten our lives dramatically. Smoking, for example, causes a number of heart and lung diseases, such as pneumonia, emphysema and test 2 cancer. Besides, it makes your teeth yellow and skin unhealthy. Fortunately, in recent years smoking has received a lot of bad publicity, and fewer people smoke nowadays.
Volunteer opportunities include:
- Daily Operations
- Programs and Events
- Preparing newsletters and blogs
- Interviewing AAHC participants and community members
- Assist with bulk mailings
- Manage files and data entry
- Perform large copy projects
